Google is making a significant effort to have companies move their computing to the internet, and off the desktop and out of their own shops. Their objective is to bypass Microsoft, not compete with it. It'll be a whole new paradigm for the companies, raising issues of security and IS management particularly. CIO's will have to change their approach from one of control to one of risk management. Will companies do this? What's at stake? Will it benefit their e-business strategies or act as a deterrent?
